Calling All Texans! Vote, Don't Mess with Texas!

Friends: We need your help. Don't Mess with Texas has been nominated as one of the best slogans of all time. This is for the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame. The slogan is nominated right alongside Nike's "Just Do It" and Wheaties' "The Breakfast of Champions." Winners are selected American Idol style with online voting. Basically, our goal is to get as many Texans to vote as possible. And with 22 million real Texans, how can we lose?

Here's how you can help:

1. Most important, go to http://www.votedmwt.com and vote for Don't Mess with Texas. One vote per computer, so you can vote at work and at home.
2. Copy this post and email it to your friends, family and coworkers and ask them to vote for "Don't Mess with Texas." Send it to anyone who loves Texas.

The contest ends September 29, so be sure to vote before then!!

RIP Charlie "Butch" Sours, I miss your cranky ass. :'-(

Dear Charlie-Dad, I can't believe I'm writing this letter, I just knew you were going to be an immortal creature. You were always so brave and steadfast and I thought you'd live forever on belligerence alone. I'm so not ready to say good-bye. You seemed tired when you were here at Thanksgiving, but then we started making plans for you to move back to Texas next year and I had false hope that you were going to be around a while longer. What a horrible tease. So much of who I am is because of you, and I'm grateful to still have your voice in my head saying all the grumpy things that you loved to say so often. My fierce loyalty, sticking by my guns on tough topics, and most importantly my ability to love unconditionally all came from you. Drawing healthy boundaries

I'm posting this here so you'll never lose it and you'll always be able to go back and reference it. ------------------------- This is farewell, I'm done. I once loved you so dearly, and now I only find irritation and disappointment when I interact with you. I can't listen to any more drunken self-created drama, nor should I have to. My time is far more valuable than the ramblings of someone who either cannot or will not take responsibility for anything in their life. I sincerely hope you get help and find hope and purpose.
