Peace events on Monday...Arlington and Denton

Hey everyone, there are two events going on tomorrow that I thought my Arlington and Denton peeps would want to know about. Since we're without wheels I won't be able to make either of these events, fyi. Peacemaker Picnic in Arlington In keeping with the idea of "Creating a Culture of Peace" the theme in Arlington for Memorial Day May 28, 2007, will be "Building a Culture of Peace in Arlington - Peacemaker Potluck Picnic." The event will address the question, what would a culture of peace look like in Arlington and around the world? To express our oneness through a diversity of food is the theme of the picnic. What better fundamental truth about survival than to recognize we all must eat; and by recognizing we all must eat, we become more aware of our oneness. Not just food for nourishment, but food for thought, too. Bring a poem about peace, a song to sing. And speaking of song and poem, we will also have Dances of Universal Peace. When: Monday May 28, 5pm

Anyone want a pet rat??

Hey guys, please repost this and help us out. We bought a rat several weeks ago as snake food, but Baby was shedding and not hungry. Having never housed a rat before, I accidentally overfed it and now it's too big for her to eat. It's cute and sweet and I can't bring myself to kill it. It's also been into the snake tank twice so I kinda feel sorry for it now. Can anyone please give this animal a good home? You'll need to have (or get) your own tank and setup because we still need a place to house Baby's food. Please let me know if you're interested or if you know anyone that's interested!!

Who Supports Hate??

The religious right's leaders are at it again, hiding behind religious claims to push an agenda of hate and bigotry. Their latest target is the hate crimes legislation recently passed in the House which would provide expanded protections for gay and lesbian victims of hate crimes. They say the bill is an attack on religion, which begs the question: does the religious right truly believe that hate speech is an integral component of their faith? I've just sent a letter to James Dobson, Tony Perkins and Chuck Colson letting them know they should be ashamed of themselves for using the language of religion to mask their bigotry. Will you join me and the Campaign to Defend the Constitution in denouncing their hateful and dangerous rhetoric? Follow this link to send them a letter and tell them what you think about their latest outrage: http://ga3.org/campaign/hatecrimes_supporters?rk=4p3AhD91btNpW
