Words of wisdom

Here's a little something that I thought was worth sharing from my inbox...hope everyone has a great day! A truly creative person rids him or herself of all self-imposed limitations. Forgiveness means letting go of the past. I can have peace of mind only when I forgive rather than judge. Inner peace can be reached only when we practice forgiveness. Forgiveness is letting go of the past, and is therefore the means for correcting our misperceptions. Love is the total absence of fear. Love asks no questions. Its natural state is one of extension and expansion, not comparison and measurement. Other people do not have to change for us to experience peace of mind. Peace of mind comes from not wanting to change others. The best way to navigate through life is to give up all of our controls. Through our willingness to help others we can learn to be happy rather than depressed. When I am able to resist the temptation to judge others, I can see them as teachers of forgiveness in my life, rem

I raise a glass to Hunter

I don't have any idea why you did it, but I'm sure you had a very good reason. I celebrate your life with a drink in your honor. You will be missed.

Kids on Love

Here's something kinda cheesy but really sweet from my inbox... What is love? A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think..... "When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." Rebecca- age 8 "When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy - age 4 "Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." Karl - age 5 "Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs." Chrissy -age 6 "Love is what makes you smile when you're t

I got a job! *GASP*

Yes kids, it's true...the job hunt has finally (and thankfully) ended. B and I had a long Talk Tuesday night during which we ran the numbers on the permanent position with the title company I've been temping at. With his new gig we are able to afford for me to take a little less than what I had been making before, thus enabling me to make my move into the title world. I don't even think I can begin to describe how happy and relieved I am to have found a place that I truly enjoy going to every day. The team is great and the manager is awesome. Looks like the company doesn't suck either. ;-) The position I am starting in is an entry to this side of the industry and the company is going to help me get my notary and my escrow officer's license when the time comes, woohoo! A job with opportunity for quick advancement, yay! Above and beyond all of these wonderful things, this job will get me employment when the time comes for us to relocate to N'Awlins. Since they d

It's been a week, oops!

It's funny how quickly time passes because it certainly doesn't seem like a week has passed since I posted here last. Of course, I've been struggling with the unemployment blues quite a bit which makes it hard to want to share. :) On the job front, no news is no news. I haven't heard back from my interview of last week but I did make a follow up phone call yesterday and confirmed that no second interviews have been conducted yet. At least that one's not about me, right? ;-) My resume is out several new places so hopefully something will happen with that. I'm going to update my resume prolly tonight to reflect my temporary work so that it doesn't look like a big employment gap. B and I did some math Tuesday night to see if there is any way I can afford to stay at the title company I'm temping for. It would be tight, but once the bonuses kicked in I think we would be better off than we were before. My ego hates to take that kind of pay cut but what'

Happy Fat Tuesday!

Just a quick note to remind everyone to eat Cajun food, drink Hurricanes and listen to Zydeco music tonight!

New names?? ;-P

My friend Sarah emailed this to me and I thought it was ridiculous enough to share. The following in an excerpt from a children's book, "Captain Underpants And the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants" by Dave Pilkey. The evil Professor forces everyone to assume new names... Use the third letter of your first name to determine your new first name: a = poopsie b = lumpy c = buttercup d = gadget e = crusty f = greasy g = fluffy h = cheeseball i = chim-chim j = stinky k = flunky l = bootie m = pinky n = zippy o = goober p = doofus q = slimy r = loopy s = snotty t = tootie u = dorkey v = squeezit w = oprah x = skipper y = dinky z = zsa-zsa Use the second letter of your last name to determine the first half of your new last name: a = apple b = toilet c = giggle d = burger e = girdle f = barf g = lizard h = waffle i = cootie j = monkey k = potty l = liver m = banana n = rhino o = bubble p = hamster q = toad r = gizz

Sometimes you just can't tell what may happen

So here I was this morning predicting the end of my temp assignment, but the day had a strange surprise for me. About half the office called in sick today (the flu is running rampant through the place) so I got to really show my stuff. The boss-lady noticed and now wants to see my resume, woohoo! I've got tomorrow off to do my interviews but I'm taking my resume in on Thursday morning when I go back. We've already discussed my salary requirements and she didn't even flinch. Guess I've made a good impression on her, huh? LOL! Okie, gotta go get my outfit planned for my early morning interview tomorrow. Go me!

Ugh, morning

Sleepy girl today...*yawn*...I'm sure it will get better once I ingest some of this delicious Cafe Du Monde coffee though. :) My temp assignment continues today but I have a feeling that this will probably be the last day there. Teehee, it was awfully nice to go through a month-end and not have my own files to stress out about! Tomorrow is looking busy for me, I've got an interview in the early morning and then a second interview in the afternoon. I'm thinking that even if this temp gig continues that I won't be able to work tomorrow anyway...gotta be fresh for the business of selling myself. :) I've also got to make a follow up phone call today on an interview from last month, wish me luck! I need to expend some energy around the house tonight, the laundry is overdue and the dishes are threatening to take over the kitchen. I also need/want to get my tax stuff ready to go to Bitchy's house so that we can get the refund in the works. Better to have money co
